Who will edit my work?

All of our editors are fully capable of editing any genre.* However, within our house we generally divide jobs amongst ourselves according to genre preferences. For example, Theresa wants your sci-fi, Alyssa’s not afraid to tackle a romance, Megan gets excited about picture books, and Chrysa loves a good, creative fairy tale retelling. You will be assigned one editor we feel best fits your needs who will correspond with you throughout the project.

*All screenplays are sent exclusively to Sarah Gorman.

Are you professionally trained in editing?

Yes. In addition to our positions and experience in the publishing field as agents, writers, and members of publishing houses, our degrees are in professional writing from the esteemed Taylor University writing program, where we have diligently studied the finer points of professional writing, editing, and literary marketing. You can read more about us here.

How long does it take to edit?

The typical turnaround time for a novel is three weeks. Other timetables can be viewed on our Rates page. In special cases, we may be able to negotiate quicker turnaround for a higher rate. However, depending on project load, we may not be able to offer an accelerated service.

How much does it cost?

You can find our affordable prices on our Rates page.

How do I pay?

For now, payments are accepted through PayPal. However, payments will soon be accepted through Serious Writer’s website. Half of the payment will be due up front and half will be due halfway through.

How can I contact you?

There is a Contact page on our website. You can also email us at sherpaediting@gmail.com.

Will I see you at writers’ conferences?

The five of us attend various writers’ conferences throughout the year, sometimes on staff, sometimes as agents, and sometimes as writers ourselves. We’ll post on our Updates page where you might find us in person.

What if I have more questions?

Feel free to email us at sherpaediting@gmail.com or reach us through the Contact page.
